COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE AGENDA

The following items will be discussed in the order in which they appear on this agenda, unless otherwise determined by the Chairman.

TC-7-09 Front Yard Parking for Single Family Detached Dwellings. Amends the Zoning Code to regulate the front yard area of single family detached dwellings by further limiting the area which may be devoted to driveways and parking areas, requires the driveway and parking areas to be paved or contain crushed stone with defined borders and requires vegetative screening in certain situations. The proposed regulations will apply to all new driveway and parking areas and may require compliance of existing violations within one year of adoption.

East CAC meets January 25th

The East CAC will hold its first meeting of the year on Monday, January 25th at 7PM at Lions Park Community Center, 516 Dennis Avenue. This is a week after our normal meeting date as the third Monday is the Martin Luther King holiday.

On the agenda is a report from our Lions and Lockwood playground redesign committee. We’ll also hear from David Thompson, the city’s Residential Traffic Safety Engineer, about traffic calming measures that neighborhoods can pursue. We’ll vote again on Z-18-09, the Poole Road and Norwood convenience store. We’ll also hear from the Salvation Army on their proposed “Center of Hope” shelter on Capital near Crabtree, SP-71-09.

In addition, Mr. Thompson can address address sidewalk questions during his presentation. Also, Parks staff will discuss upgrades now taking place at nearby Oakwood Park.

East CAC OPED to meet Wednesday, January 13th

Happy new year, Eastsiders!

The East CAC’s Outreach, Planning and Economic Development (OPED) committee will meet Wednesday, January 13th at 6:30 PM at Lions Park Community Center, 516 Dennis Avenue.

On the agenda will be Z-16-09, the convenience store property at the corner of Poole Road and Norwood. Also to be discussed are the proposed study areas of New Bern Avenue and Capital Boulevard. These study areas will help guide the development of these two important corridors.
